Book Design and Printing

Old Seventy Creek Press designs and edits in-house. Books published by Old Seventy Creek Press are designed with the author in mind and has as its primary goal the production of a book that the author can look to with pride. All books have a high-gloss cover. The author is encouraged to provide artwork for the book cover, to suggest interior text style and/or layout, and to approve all aspects of the design state. Each book goes through an extensive editing process in an effort to produce a publication as free of errors as humanly possible.

Old Seventy Creek Press utilizes print-on-demand (POD) technology which is suited for books having low sales volumes. Print-on-demand allows Old Seventy Creek Press to design and publish a book without the expensive minimum press run of 500-1200 books. Print-on-demand publishing is utilized by many publishing houses, small presses, and literary magazines.

Although Old Seventy Creek Press is small, it is a real press. Submissions of manuscripts in the past have been by invitation only. The Lady in Grey was the first book published not written by Rudy Thomas. The book, a collection of ghost stories and other tales, was written by students, staff, and family members of the Lindsey Wilson College Upward Bound program. Life in the River Hills was the second book published by Old Seventy Creek Press. The book began as a manuscript of 800+ pages and was an editor's nightmare, but in its final version of fewer than 300 pages, it is an excellent oral history and autobiographical text. Currently, the third book, Train to Chihuahua and other poems of Mexico is the first poetry collection by Texas poet Travis Blair. The book is currently available for purchase.

Submissions of manuscripts until mid-2009 will be in response to the Old Seventy Creek Press Poetry Series Contest or by query only.
