Reviews of Travis Blair's first poetry collection, Train to Chihuahua, and other poems of Mexico by Travis Blair:

“Few writers can capture the feel of a place the way Travis Blair captures Mexico in his book Train to Chihuahua. You walk the dusty streets with him, savoring spicy smells from the vendor carts, sipping mojitos, and making love to beautiful senoritas.  Blair's first full-length volume of poetry is a ticket to ride the train.”

“In Train to Chihuahua, Travis Blair depicts Mexico’s emotional and physical landscapes with verbal images

simultaneously romantic, sensuous, erotic and wry.  His writings reflect a keen awareness of life’s ironies, both humorous and harsh, and of the toll time takes on places and on people. It’s difficult to select a favorite passage, but the intimate She Loved Outlaws strikes universal chords, while Barefoot Bravado’s observations of poverty and human resilience will break your heart.”

Philip Wuntch - Critic Emeritus,                                  Dallas Morning News

“The beauty of travel poetry, when successful, is the fulfillment of the journey, the transformative movement of the self from point to point.  The geographical elements become mirror for more transformative ambitions.  Travis Blair’s Train to Chihuahua provides a vivid journey in all regards.  We have only to ride along.”
